Rendell orders execution of 2 killers
Gov. Ed Rendell signed execution warrants for 2 convicted killers on
Tuesday.
Mark Spotz, 35, was convicted of kidnapping, robbing and shooting to death
52-year-old June Ohlinger in 1995 in Schuylkill County. His execution was
set for July 25.
Manuel Sepulveda, 27, was convicted in Monroe County of killing John
Mendez and Ricardo Lopez in 2001. He is scheduled to die July 27.
Rendell has signed 55 execution warrants during 3 1/2 years in office.
There were 220 men and 5 women on the state's death row as of May 1.
Pennsylvania has executed 3 people since reinstating the death penalty 28
years ago. All 3 ended appeals voluntarily.
