Tenn. court stays execution of Va. man
A Virginia man set to be put to death next month for the 2002 stabbing death of a Tennessee bait shop owner has been granted a stay of execution.
40-year-old Steven James Rollins of Gate City had been scheduled for execution on July 26th. He was convicted in the robbery and murder of 81-year-old John Bussell as he worked in his Kingsport business 5 years ago.
The Tennessee Supreme Court this week postponed Rollins' execution until May of next year.
Rollins' attorney asked the court for more time for his client to pursue appeals.
