Texas County Prosecutor Mike Anderson announced Monday he will seek the death penalty for a 19-year-old Eminence man accused of shooting his girlfriend's parents.
Chad R. Brantley is charged with 1st-degree murder and assault in the Jan. 13 shooting of Christina and William "Buddy" Bird of Summersville. Christina Bird was killed and Buddy Bird was critically injured in the attack.
The Birds' daughter, Amelia, now 17, also is charged with 2st-degree murder and assault and will be tried as an adult. She was 16 at the time the crime was committed.
Brantley has been held in the Texas County Jail without bond since his arrest in January. Amelia Bird also is being held. She is scheduled to appear in Texas County Circuit Court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.
