Crime Stoppers' chief Ogg stepping down after 6 years
Crime Stoppers of Houston's executive director announced Tuesday that she is stepping down after more than 6 years.
Kim Ogg, a former Harris County prosecutor and the 1st director of the Mayor's Anti-Gang Task Force, said she will leave Crime Stoppers on June 9 to practice law again.
"My professional goal has always been to help people obtain justice," Ogg said. "Unfortunately, ordinary people face many barriers associated with access to the justice system. They need good advocates willing to fight for their rights."
Ogg will become a senior attorney at the law firm of McFall, Sherwood & Breitbeil, where she will focus on white-collar criminal defense, business litigation and forensic investigations.
She left as Harris County's chief felony prosecutor in 1994 to become Houston's 1st anti-gang director. She left that position in 1999 for Crime Stoppers. As a prosecutor for 7 years, Ogg won a death penalty sentence in a capital murder case.
