11th Texas execution scheduled for Tuesday
A 34-year-old former crack cocaine user heads to the Texas death chamber Tuesday night.
Timothy Titsworth was arrested for capital murder for killing his girlfriend in Amarillo almost 14 years ago. He was on probation for auto theft at the time. He would be the 11th prisoner executed this year in Texas.
Titsworth was condemned for the death of 26-year-old Christine Marie Sossman. Her body was found at the mobile home she was sharing with Titsworth. Sossman was struck some 16 times with a dull ax.
Evidence showed Titsworth, who dropped out of school in the eighth grade, was working as a roofer. The evidence further showed Titsworth was high on cocaine at the time of the attack.
According to court records, a friend of Sossman testified the victim was about to ask Titsworth to leave because Sossman believed Titsworth was stealing from her.
